This is a truly unique and customised caricature for a customer who was an absolute delight to work with. Her description was extremely comprehensive as you can see below:
“Main idea
- Lying/ Sitting up in a hammock with the beach in the background - hammock hanging in a sort of beach shack or suspended between two trees
- Dog lying/sitting on the floor next to or under the hammock
- She was a zipline guide in Whistler so even though she is in a hammock if she could be dressed in a zip line harness, helmet etc that would be great - she is a south Sydney Rabbitohs fan and their colours are red and green so maybe a Rabbitohs scarf and she is always wearing novelty earrings but our favourites are her toilet paper roll earrings so if she could be wearing those that would be good
- During all of our early travels She was always taking pictures with her orange Panasonic digital camera (I will include a picture for your reference). She always had the wrist strap on so if that could be in her hand that would be great.
- A range of Polaroids or photos of different travel memories nailed into the tree branches / or walls of the beach shack (I have included a list with a range of different travel Memories to choose from at the bottom of this)
Couple of other things that might be cool to include:
- she loves a cup of tea and a shortbread biscuit but always has her tea from a really big mug (usually Winnie the Pooh shaped) maybe this could be incorporated on a table next to the hammock
- We went skydiving together over the beach so if there could be a plane and/or small skydiver/s in the background over the water that could be cool. Otherwise a Polaroid/photo of skydivers nailed into the tree/beach shack
- We have collected shot glasses from countries all over Europe so a shelf hammered into the tree/beach shack with a couple of random shot glasses with landmarks/symbols of major cities on them (eg shamrock, Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, windmills, Santorini blue and white buildings)
- She worked in Whistler for 5 years so if there could be some skis Standing up against the tree/ hut that would be great
- we have played netball together for 20 years so a netball on the floor somewhere would be cool
- We did a week sailing Croatia on a boat called ‘the tuna’ so if there could be a boat on the water with that name that would be great (this could also be a Polaroid/photo nailed to the tree/shack)
Here is the list of notable travel experiences we’ve had together which would be great to include if possible - I thought maybe there could be a range of Polaroids/or photos nailed into the trees/beach shack. These wouldn’t need to be detailed pictures or anything and wouldn’t need to have people in them just the general idea or a symbol of the memory
- We walked up the Sydney harbour bridge together so a picture of the bridge would be great
- We did cage diving with great white sharks together in south Australia so a shark through the bars of a cage would be cool
- skydiving (if not able to be incorporated into the background of the beach)
- ‘The tuna’ sail Croatia boat (if not able to be incorporated in the background)
- The Whistler mountains or a chairlift
- Riding camels in the Sahara desert
- Tomato throwing festival in Spain
- Running with the bulls festival
- Swimming with wild dolphins in New Zealand
- Riding Quad bikes in the Greek islands
- We had cheese leak in our bags in Amsterdam so Maybe a big piece of cheese
- Getting a helicopter onto a glacier in New Zealand”
Drawing a complex caricature such as this takes a lot of time but the result is really worth it as it makes for a much more personalised gift.
