“Man Overboard!”

A rubber ducky epic starring one very determined pirate, a suspiciously expressive goldfish, and a wildly improved photo. Every so often, a caricature comes along that truly makes waves — and not just in the bathtub. This is the story of one man, one tub, and an expression that very nearly wasn’t.

When I looked at the first reference photo for this mighty seafarer, I squinted. I tilted my head. I refreshed my screen, hoping it was a loading issue. Alas, it was just expressionless. A facial vacuum. Less “fearsome pirate captain” and more “accountant deep in thought about supermarket loyalty points.”

Naturally, I requested a second photo. Something with fire. Something with drama. Something that screamed, “I’m in a porcelain tub battling sea monsters with ducks.” And oh, did this one deliver. The new photo had wild eyes, bared teeth, raised brows and a general vibe of someone who just realised the bath plug’s missing and they’re slowly drifting out to sea.

With that face — a glorious, cartoonish canvas of chaotic energy — I created the ultimate scene of bath-time piracy.

Behold: the captain, gripping the wheel of his noble vessel (a vintage clawfoot tub), roaring into the storm as rubber ducks squeak in fear. His hat, oversized and heroic. His jacket, soaked but proud. His feet? Dangling precariously overboard while the sea boils with adventure.

To star alongside our aquatic antihero we have Goldie the Startled Goldfish, a fish leaping from the ocean like it’s just seen its tax return. Eyes wide, fins flailing, this fish has clearly not read the job description for “background extra.” No bowl. No nonsense. Just pure, unfiltered aquatic panic.

Lightning crackles behind him. Bubbles rise. Tentacles creep ominously. A bottle of “Lilac Body Shampoo” bobs nearby, possibly judging everyone. This isn’t just a bath — it’s a full-blown nautical opera, starring one man and three confused ducks.
